It is a yet further aim of this invention to provide a transmission jack which is operated by a hydraulic power unit consisting of a piston and cylinder assembly coupled with a fluid reservoir, the piston having at its outer free end a transversely disposed guide member, which guide has rollers on each end thereof, the rollers being received in corresponding trackways on each side of the base whereby to minimize bending loads on the hydraulic cylinder. In order to accomplish this result there is provided a wheeled base having a lift arm pivotally coupled at one end thereof to the base, the other end of the lift arm having a load-receiving head thereon, there being a leveling assembly interconnecting the head and the base of the jack whereby the head may be rotated about a transverse axis and thus positioned with respect to the vehicle when the transmission is to be supported by the head.

It is the most important object of this invention to provide a jack for handling vehicle transmissions such as is normally done in service stations, automotive repair shops and the like, the jack being relatively simple in construction and operation whereby to greatly facilitate the handling of bulky and heavy vehicle transmissions as they are removed from or installed into the vehicles.
